Seeing Yourself and Your Possibilities Clearly....

Jul.19.2007 by Jim Spivey

avoiding the phenomenon called "planning to fail" by cultivating your soul

"How we feel about ourselves and our lives is entirely within our control; once we choose to change how we feel, think, and believe, the circumstances and conditions of our lives will change accordingly to meet our new expectations. ... If we wish to improve our lot in life, we must first face and accept that we have certain core beliefs, predominant thought patterns, and basic emotions and attitudes that have created the reality that we now experience. Then, we must decide to adopt new, improved, and powerfully intentional ways of being and believing, of thinking and feeling, in order to create the new reality we have idealized, envisioned, and desired for ourselves. This isn't denial. It's the acceptance of our co-creative abilities and the acceptance of our freedom to choose what and how to think, believe, and feel. It is the taking on of the full responsibility for one's life, as it is, as well as how it could be."

-- Leslie Fieger

"There's a saying that goes 'If you fail to plan, you're planning to fail.' Are you unintentially planning to fail? I realize that very few people have the conscious intention of failing, but that's just what so many do every day when they indulge their every desire and launch their efforts without a solid, fundamental belief in themselves and the follow-thru on plans that flow naturally from that belief. I see it constantly. People who are so excited about pursuing their dream, whether it's starting a new career, or opening their own new business, or following a calling. They're working very hard. They're often very dedicated. They're very excited, because they know they have a great product or service to offer and a small handful of backers who really love them. But they're missing one key ingredient: a rock solid belief in themselves that will not be denied, and a determination to plan for success and do everything it takes to manifest that success."

-- Debbie LaChusa

"The soul attracts that which it secretly harbors; that which it loves, and also that which it fears. It reaches the height of its most cherished aspirations. It also falls to the level of its unchastened desires - and circumstances are the means by which the soul receives its own and reflects on possible change. Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves and the way they think."

-- James Allen

We are powerfully co-creative forces - made that way by our Creator and invited to co-create masterpieces with our lives and our love. When we clearly see who we are and what's possible in full partnership with Him, no planning will ever be necessary, because He will quite literally guide our every action and step, and our every sure-footed investment in ourselves and our growth, but when we fear failure as a concealed or denied, yet self-fulfilling "prophecy" for our lives, and out of our deadly fear claim no responsibility for the results we produce through our efforts or that get produced through others in support of us, then no amount of planning will ever be sufficient, as we quite literally "plan to fail" and then follow through to the expected result. When we operate in ways that expect, make manifest, and then relish our success (the big, broad, multi-faceted kind, not just the simple financial variety) - in other words, based on a "joy maximization strategy" in manifesting a robust vision, we literally attract it into being way more often than not. When we operate in overly cautious, over-controlled, tightly restrictive, and timid ways, based on a "pain minimization strategy" in attempting to manifest a weak and feeble vision, we literally strangle ourselves to death, pushing any life-saving oxygen away in the process. The key: knowing who and Whose you are and why you are doing what you're doing, and identifying and owning any predisposition you might have to failing, fully opening up to receiving another bigger truth.
