Houston,TX — The Texas -based independent record label management company, Indie Extreme, LLC recently finalized a distribution deal with National Music Marketing, a California-based retail marketing and promotion company working in conjunction with Burnside Music Distribution.
The distribution deal provides an important piece in the Indie Extreme system of providing independent artists and labels access to the needed vehicle of distribution to outlets suitable for their music.
National Music Marketing is owned by long time music industry professionals, Greg Steffen and Harvey Cooper. As a member fo Indie Extreme’s board of managers, Harvey Cooper brings extensive experience as a veteran in marketing and label development from his years of leading the marketing divisions of Haven Records, Bell Records and RCA Records. As the Sr. VP of 20th Century Records, Cooper reversed a $6.5M loss into a $2M net profit in 18 months. Greg Steffen has been in the marketing and sales side of the music business since 1970, starting in Buffalo, NY in the rack-jobbing division of Transcontinent Records. From 1973-1977, he was western NY rep for Action Music, an independent distributor out of Cleveland, OH. He was subsequently hired in 1977 by A&M Records as their upstate NY marketing rep. He moved to several location with A&M, eventually ending up in San Francisco in 1985. In 1988, Greg left A&M to start his own retail marketing service specializing in the jazz, world music, instrumental, folk, vocal, eclectic AC and NAC oriented genres.

National Music Marketing has sucessfully created opportunities for artists and independent record labelsin mainstream record retail as well as alternative markets, achieving high positions on Billboard, as well as other radio charts, media outlets and retail sales.

The first releases scheduled are: June 12, 2007, Matt Brouwer’s “Unlearning” on Black Shoe Records; July 10, 2007, Paige Stroman’s “Mother and Child” on Lullabyland; August 10, 2007 Paige Stroman’s “Christmas Lullabies to Create Memories” on Lullabyland.
